Green Streets (The Mersey Forest)
Green Streets is a programme that is being implemented by The Mersey Forest team to improve communities through urban street planting. Since 2007, The Mersey Forest have worked collaboratively with a range of partners to plant thousands across urban areas across Merseyside and North Cheshire. The project aims to provide numerous benefits, such as reducing air pollution, improving the aesthetics of neighbourhoods, bringing people together, improving health and wellbeing, and benefitting wildlife.
Green Streets is funded through the Local Sustainable Transport Fund, Forestry Commission’s Setting the Scene for Growth project and by a range of Council and partner environmental programmes. There is more information about the project, including specific case studies, at the website link below.
