The Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP)
The Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) describes itself as ‘a worldwide network to enhance the science and practical application of ecosystem services assessment’. The ESP was launched in 2008 by the Gund Institute for Ecological Economics (University of Vermont, USA) and is now being coordinated by the Environmental Systems Analysis Group (Wageningen University, the Netherlands).
The aim of the ESP is to enhance communication, coordination and cooperation between individuals and organisations who work within the fields of ecosystem services, environmental assessment or valuation. The ESP encourages a diversity of approaches, while reducing unnecessary duplication of effort in the conceptualisation and application of ecosystem services. By raising the profile of ecosystem services and promoting better practice, the ESP will also increase opportunities for financial support and help focus the funding of individual organisations for more efficient utilisation of existing funds. The website provides a wide range of resources such as case studies, guidelines and toolkits, publications, training material, and information about upcoming events or funding opportunities.
